Farida Mahgoub

Farida Mahgoub is a medical doctor and public health researcher with advanced training in epidemiology, migration health, and health systems strengthening. She holds an MD and an MPH and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health, with research interests focused on migration, mobility, and their intersection with infectious disease dynamics, surveillance, and access to care. Her professional work spans health emergencies, zoonotic diseases, and One Health approaches, with particular expertise in rabies, mpox, and emerging pathogens in complex and displacement-affected settings. She has extensive experience working with UN agencies and regional institutions, leading multi-country initiatives, coordinating multisectoral stakeholders, and translating research into policy-relevant guidance and training. Her interests also include the ethical and operational use of artificial intelligence in emergency response and surveillance, with a strong emphasis on equity, protection, and the health of mobile and displaced populations.
