Anna Ziersch

I am a public health social scientist. I lead a group at the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute looking at the social determinants of migrant and refugee health. We conduct a wide range of applied research projects on migration and health, in partnership with key organisations and communities and projects. Our collaborative research program spans housing and neighbourhood, employment, disability, discrimination, family violence, aging, chronic disease, and access to primary, maternal and oral health services, as well as the health impacts of immigration detention and impacts of immigration precarity. I have authored more than 120 publications. I am founding Co-convenor of the Migrant and Refugee Research Network of over 200 Australian academics, service providers, and community members. I was an invited witness for the Australian Federal Inquiry into Regional Resettlement; invited contributor to two Australian government migration reviews; invited witness for a national Multicultural Framework Review; and invited speaker and contributor to Federal Government Department of Home Affairs settlement and integration framework consultation. I recently co-authored an invited World Health Organization paper on migration and urban health (currently being finalised) for their Strategic Guide on Urban Health.
