Migration health has been one of the main focuses of my PhD project. I have approached migration as a social determinant of health that intersects with additional determinants. I have explored health inequalities between migrant groups and native groups in Europe working with ESS survey data, adopting an intersectionality perspective. I have focused on self-rated health (general and chronic diseases) as well as on depressive symptoms. I am particularly interested in the intersections between immigration status, gender, and socio-economic position. Moreover, I have been recently started working on a policy analysis of the Greek asylum system as shaped by the EU directives as well as by the recent agreement between EU and Turkey from the aspect of its impact on asylum seekers’ and refugees’ health and health inequalities.
