Anjali Borhade

Anjali is Associate Professor with Indian Institute of Public Health, Delhi, India. She has a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Tulane University, USA, as well a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a diploma in Labour Laws and Labour Welfare. Currently she is research fellow under PHFI-UKC Wellcome Trust Capacity Building Programme and pursuing her doctoral research at Nuffield Department of Population Health at University of Oxford, focused on comparative research on health policies for migrant workers in low, middle and high income countries. Her research is aiming to draw transferrable lessons for migrant populations in India. Her areas of interests are; urban health and policies, multidisciplinary research, health systems, and public health governance. Anjali specializes in the areas of program design, evaluation methodologies, operations research, and capacity building and policy advocacy pertaining to initiatives for highly vulnerable migrant populations. Anjali has sixteen years of experience in addressing rural/tribal-urban labour migration, and improving social protection policies including health policies for migrant workers. She has provided technical support to various state governments and to UN agencies like UNIFEM, UNICEF, UNDP and UNESCO for improving programs and policies for migrant workers. Her recent work has focused on addressing health inequities among migrant workers through integrated approach. She is Founder Director of NGO ‘Disha Foundation’ dedicated to work with internal migrants and their rights in India. She convenes a National Coalition of NGOs/Academia’s working on migrants’ rights across India. She is visiting professor at Tulane University, USA.
