Research & Expertise

A public health practitioner and a geriatrician, my professional duties encompass hospital medicine as a consultant in a department that I created 3 years ago after training myself and working in a top-level geriatric department at Grenoble Alpes University Hospital. Besides, I work as a public health and clinical advisor toward French national authorities when it comes to health issues in a range of immigration pathways. I furthermore regularly conduct clinical examinations in various internationally mobile populations. Five years ago, I entered a European Union program dealing with accessibility of healthcare worldwide in direct connection with some national procedure opening access to French medical care when not available in the country of origin. My growing duties lead me to represent France at an EU agency, and conversely, actively participate in the training of French medical doctors with EU standards. Of course, a major part of my job consists of technical requests, navigating between these different levels. As regards my background, I was trained in two medical specialties : public health medicine and geriatric medicine, at the Grenoble Alpes University Hospital. Besides, I graduated in Geopolitics and International relations at Toulouse University (UT1) Political institute. My research work (graduation) under the direction of Prof. Danielle Cabanis, was related to : Mobility and health issues : evolution, challenges and perspectives. Furthermore, I completed university degrees in global health, medical law, & further elderly-centered topics : infections in the elderly, and neurogeriatrics, which led me to discuss the impact of infections in some sub-groups of internationally mobile elderly population, and currently to be in charge of developing some « short guidelines » to support medical doctors when dealing with elderly people suffering from cognitive impairment in the "Etranger malade" procedure. The next step will be to invest myself in research on internationally mobile elderly populations, the health risks they are exposed to, what care or prevention they may need, and as we could imagine, the related potential for epidemics or other transborder events. I project to start a PhD on internationally mobile elderly populations. Interest in (research topics) : Clinical medical assessment in complex environments. Clinical & international frailty. Outbreak modeling. Biomathematical modeling. Accessibility to healthcare. Elderly care pathway & network. Cognitive impairment & multipathology. International relations & health diplomacy.
