Research & Expertise

After completing my undergraduate degree in Nepal, I gained a M.Sc. (Distinction) in Public Health and Health Promotion from Brunel University (London) and completed my Ph.D. from Southampton University in 2003. Currently, I am Professor of International Public Health in the Public Health Institute (PHI) and Associate Dean for Global Engagement for the Faculty of Education, Health & Community at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in the UK. Before I moved to LJMU, I was a Senior Lecturer in Public Health in the School of Health & Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. Prior to this, I was based in the Medical School at the University of Aberdeen and I have also worked for Save the Children (UK) and the Ministry of Health in Nepal. My expertise in the area of migration health research has been recognized internationally, including being Keynote Speaker at several migration and health-related national and international conferences. I have been recently invited as a Panellist at the International Conference on Migration Health. I have experience of working with the most vulnerable, marginalized and underprivileged population of the society. I have successfully conducted a number of research with trafficked women and girls, migrant workers, sex workers, and other underprivileged population. I have managed several research projects related to migrants population. I have published over 20 papers in this field.
